Beautiful beach in Blouberg in Cape town is right now hosting Red Bull King Of The Air - the world's big-air kitesurfers competiton!
For this year fans can look forward to names like Kevin Langeree, Liam Whaley and Lewis Crathern along with past champions Jesse Richman, Aaron Hadlow. Unfortunately, 2017’s winner Nick Jacobsen gonna miss due to his injury. These guys gonna compete against nine kiteboarding riders chosen from the video entries contest and wildcards.
First day of the competition
The first day of the competition bring 25-30 knot southeasterly wind and 7000 spectators to Line Kite Beach and round one was full of interesting highlights.
Lasse Walker, the Duotone Rider, was an early standout throwing various big moves to advance all the way to round four for his efforts. Steven Akkersdijk looked super confident and brought a lot of variety to the party with his 10m kite. A very focussed Lewis Crathern, who usually rides Duotone Vegas, produced a massive boogie loop to take the win.
In the final heat of the round, Antonin Rangin performed Megaloop which bring him 7.20 out of possible 10. However, he was up against Aaron Hadlow, who decided to change his Duotone boards from boots to straps and that earned him 7.92 points for down a boogie-loop board-off and he earned his spot in round four.
The second round was first elimination round and that meant end for Jerrie van der Kop, 16-year-old Tom Bridge and shockingly also for Ruben Lenten.
